"My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth, and someone should bring him back; remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death, and cover over a multitude of sins."
James 5:19,20
"Rend your heart, and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity."
Joel 2:13
The above scriptures are the key reason for the existence of this discernment site. It exists to help Christians avoid being part of movements or going to churches that preach false doctrine and if they do to warn them what is behind these phenomena.
There are many deceptions creeping into the Church that every Christian should be aware of. Especially when these deceptions are designed to control the People of God it is time to speak out against them. This is not meant to single out any one denomination as false doctrines are evident in practically all denominations, some more than others. Some doctrines and practices can be harmful to believers, causing much sadness and depression, sometimes with devastating effects on a person's relationship with others and with God.
I cannot offer an answer to every question, but I do encourage you to explore the Scriptures, measuring everything you see according to it. God certainly has all the answers and reveals them to those who seek the truth.
If you have questions, comments, an article or a testimony please send it to:
jamesfiv@jamesfive19.com. If you just need to get something off your chest or wish to post an anonymous testimony your letter is safe with me. If you send constructive criticism it will be welcome. Any unconstructive criticism may end up being made public.
If you are getting rid of books and other literature that have mislead you, think about donating them to me before you throw them away. My funds are extremely limited. Even pamphlets, magazine and newspaper clippings would be helpful. I don't like to ask for money, but if you don't have any used books to send or would like to donate a new book, I have a Wish List at Amazon.co.uk that you can choose from (and one at Amazon.de for German books). Even though some books in the lists have been recommended to me, these lists are in no way a recommendation for the books listed, they simply reflect my interests - which sometimes includes having to read doctrinally questionable material.
